Events

The Innovation Centre hosts a number of different events each year with a focus on business development for start-up and growth-oriented businesses, and networking. Since the Innovation Centre opened in 2002 over 4000 people have attended our events, courses and seminars.

Both the Enterprise Tuesday and Boardroom Briefing series are proudly sponsored by Westpac.The regular events include:

Enterprise Tuesday


Enterprise Tuesday is is an evening program held six times a year in March, April, May, August, September and October, open to all USC students and staff and the local business community, it is specifically designed and targeted at those who:
  • want to learn how to transform an idea into business
  • want to find out if entrepreneurship is for them
  • want to acquire some of the vocabulary of business and how businesses think about ideas
  • learn how to protect intellectual property in the early stages of venturing
  • learn some practical business skills
A typical Enterprise Tuesday event runs from 4pm – 6pm and features a half hour presentation from an inspirational entrepreneur, followed by time for networking.

Boardroom Briefings


The Boardroom Briefing series is aimed at start-up businesses looking to further develop and grow their businesses with the guidance and advice from business professionals specialising in a range of areas. Boardroom Briefings are more formal and educational than the Enterprise Tuesday series and normally feature a 2 hour workshop style presentation.

Run by the Business Incubator Manager and originally set up for the Innovation Centre tenant companies to assist with the mentoring program and business development of these companies, these events focus on educating and guiding companies through certain aspects of starting and running a business. The Boardroom Briefing series is also open to external companies when spaces are available.

Executive Education Courses


The Innovation Centre also hosts several executive education courses each year, with the aim of supporting start up and growth businesses on the Sunshine Coast and helping them to further develop their businesses.

Courses include but are not limited to:
  • Start it Up! – a one day intensive, practical course on starting and growing a successful and profitable business
  • Digital Futures – A practical one day course for all businesses wanting to grow their business by marketing and selling their products and services online
  • Clean Futures – A two day intensive master-class aimed at aspiring and early stage entrepreneurs in the clean technology sector
